Great Himalayan Trail

The ultimate high altitude adventure

You trek for three weeks through upper Dolpa in north west Nepal. It is an extremely remote area north of the 8000 m peaks of Dhaulagiri. It borders Tibet and is one of the dry Inner Himalayan valleys. Blue sheep and snowleopard is found here and the vegetation is high alpine. The trek is very demanding - crossing several passes above 5000 m. Yaks carry your luggage. Dolpa has a number of villages inhabited by people of Tibetan stock and practicing an ancient form of Buddhism, bön. You may borrow the film Himalaya on DVD. See it and you will come on the tour.
Also the monastery-festival of Shey in August!
