Day by day

Day 1

Meeting at our hotel in Bhaktapur, 16 km from Kathmandu.

Day 2

Together you make a walk in this ancient town. Bhaktapur is a small, traditional town, without any modern buildings. The royal palace is outside the hotel window, as are the temples where the habitants administer their morning rituals. The town has not changed much during the last 200 years and resembles a museum in natural size. Craftsmen work on the streets and merchants call out their goods. The alleys are narrow therefore car traffic is impossible.

Day 3

A visit to the famous sights of Kathmandu valley. In the evening, a review of the trekking..

Day 4 -12

In groups of 2-5 you trek between the villages in the mountains in an area between Gorkha and Pokhara in middel Nepal which few tourists visit. You trek at an altitude of 1000-2500 meters during nine days. The group has an interpreter/guide and a porter for the equipment. You arrive at genuine environments where you are welcomed. Along the trek you stay with families in the villages or simple lodges. The food is basic; mostly rice with boiled vegetables. With help of the interpreter you exchange a few questions and thoughts with your host family - unique experiences you will never forget. End up at Begnas Tal for a short busride to Pokhara. For details, see the itinerary.

Day 13

A short busride to Pokhara from Begnas Tal.

Day 14

One day in Pokhara. This is a small town, very much dependant on tourism. This is a day purely for relaxation.

Day 15

By bus to Chitwan National Park. Chitwan is one of Asia's best national parks.

Day 16 -17

A large number of rhinos, several species of deer, two species of crocodile, lots of birds and troops of monkeys can be found. With luck also bear, leopard and tiger. The tiger is not dangerous, but watch out for the rhino. It is an Eldorado for nature enthusiast. You can ride an elephant or ride a canoe on the river. But long treks by foot are considerably more interesting - and rewarding.

Day 18

You return by the old road to Kathmandu and stop at Daman, a spectacular place famous for the morning scenery where you get a clear view of the whole Himalayan range, including Everest.

Day 19

Continue to Bhaktapur. Kathmandu is a fantastic place for shopping. Splendid handicraft and cheap outdoor equipment.

Day 20

Tour ends.
